Meridian Township Police Awards Ceremony

Meridian Township Police Awards Ceremony

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Thursday June 24, the Meridian Township Police Department held their annual police awards at the Marketplace on the Green pavilion, where they honored brave actions made by police officers and citizens throughout the year.

Meridian Township Chief of Police Ken Plaga said, “We are celebrating some of the wonderful actions by officers and citizens that went above and beyond to either save a life, solve a crime, or prevent injury or harm.”

Prior to this year, the award ceremony took place in February, but due to COVID-19 it was pushed back. Chief Plaga plans to keep the award ceremony in June, outside as a barbecue from now on.

The award ceremony began with citizen awards and ended with the policeman of the year award, won by Kyle Royston.

“The officer of the year award is for an outstanding officer that was nominated by their peers that exemplifies everything that it means to be a Meridian Township police officer,” Chief Plaga said.

The police awards are a recognition of doing good work. Ranging from recognition to valor, these awards show the hard work and dedication of Meridian Township Police officers.
