Meridian Township Kicks-Off Independence Day Weekend with Celebrate Meridian

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The 4th of July is coming upon us in a few days, and with that comes celebrations all across the state of Michigan. Meridian Township is taking full advantage of the holiday and prepared a sunny, fun-filled weekend for residents to enjoy by bringing the Celebrate Meridian event to the Township to celebrate our country's birthday as well as the Township's 175th Anniversary.

Starting at 11 am, the aroma of food wafted across Central Park Drive as residents began to fill the streets. People of all ages arrived excited to try the various food from the Food Truck Rally. There were nearly 50 food trucks that participated from local businesses in Michigan and even from far locations like Indiana. Not only were there a wide variety of food to choose from at the event, but also a children's area to attend, arts and crafts booths, live music and a classic car show. The Heritage Festival located in the Meridian Historical Village was also a big attraction for attendees because of its portrayed Civil War Skirmish reenactment that took place.

Overall, the event seemed to be a huge success among the hundreds of people that attended. To top the night, there was a fireworks finale launching from Central Park South to celebrate what was a beautiful day in Meridian Township.
