SCF Is Regionals Bound After Win Over
Eastside Stars

EAST LANSING - Despite senior night for the Eastside Stars, SCF Hockey takes home 7-1 win over the Stars on Saturday.

With both teams energized and ready to skate, SCF came out strong in the first period, leading 4-1.

"I thought we executed our game plan pretty well, the kids played pretty well together," head coach Benjamin Guzak said. "I thought they moved the puck around pretty well. I thought we got a lot of shots on net and our defense zone coverage was pretty strong."

The Stars, who played smoothly in that period, were struck by the physicality SCF brought to Suburban Ice Arena.

Matching SCF's fast-paced, aggressive skating, the Stars picked up the pace in the second period but were not able to score.

SCF puts two more in the net and lead, 6-1, heading into the third.

At a point in the second period, SCF played with four players on the ice, while the Stars had a full team.

"You know, high school sports, specially hockey, it is a very physical game," Guzak said. "A few of them I didn't like, I like aggressive play but I don't fully like the undisciplined penalties that we received. I think we need to improve in that area a lot."

Even this way, SCF was able to keep the team from East Lansing away from the goal.

The third period continued to be physical, with the Eastside Stars getting a player ejected from the game.

Parents from both teams yelled in excitement or disapproval.

SCF skated off with a 7-1 win over the Stars, leading them to regionals starting Wednesday, but having a bye week first.
