Feeding Michigan's Youth, One Slice At a Time

Feeding Michigan's Youth, One Slice At a
Time

OKEMOS - On July 19, Grand Traverse Pie Company (GTPC) will celebrate their 19th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than to help feed Michigan's youth?

From June 14th to September 7th, multiple GTPC shops around Michigan will donate a portion of their apple pie sales, which includes apple crumb/pastry slices, mini 6" pies and 9" pies, to local food banks and nonprofit organizations.

The GTPC shop in Okemos, as well as in Lansing and East Lansing, will donate their portion to the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing.

"Grand Traverse Pie Company was born and is very much a part of Michigan. And so, it's really important to us that we focus on the children of Michigan and we do several things to do that," said Margaret Alexander, Director of Marketing.

Alexander also says their goal this summer is to raise $15,000 brand-wide.

According to GTPC's website, child poverty has grown to 25 percent, and more than a third of Michigan's children live in homes where neither parent is employed full-time.

To make a direct donation, contact your local shop manager or contact Marketing Director Margaret Alexander at 231-929-7841 ext. 7 or at margaret@gtpie.com.
