Resident Highlights Importance of
Having Shade in Parks

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Jan. 14 Park Commission meeting, the Commission voted to get rid of naming guidelines for the parks, until they can come up with something better.

There were also several presentations at the meeting:

The Ingham County Drain Commission presented on drain improvement projects that have been made recently in the Township.

Resident David Fisher also made a special presentation on shade trees and the importance of having shade in the parks.

The Commission seemed to agree with many of his points.

Park Commissioner Teri Banas said, "I'd like to find out maintenance-wise what the issues are, first, for trees immediately on top of playground facilities. But certainly there are some playground structures that could use tarps and that are designed to have tarps installed on them and I will ask about that."
