Park Commission Meeting Recap

Park Commission Meeting Recap

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Park Commission meeting on Tuesday, October 8th, the Commission discussed Newton Road Park.

There was a motion to reallocate up to $30,000 from the Legg Park Footbridge Project to use on a gravel parking lot for Newton Road Park.

LuAnn Maisner, Meridian Township Director of Parks and Recreation, said, "The issue with the road commission and that road not being paved and their recommendation to not move forward with paving that [the parking lot] until the road is paved will provide enough information. I don't know if that goes to the director of planning or if that needs to go to ZBA."

Later on in the discussion, the Commission said that the parking lot will have to be paved eventually, regardless if the road near it is paved or not.

However, they will get one year to start off as just a gravel lot.
