Resolution to Approve Ballot Language

Resolution to Approve Ballot Language

OKEMOS - On January 25, Members of the Meridian Township Board approved the resolution to set the ballot language regarding the topic of recreational marijuana in the next primary election on August 2.

The item was initially intended to appear during the November 3rd election but was moved to August 2 by the counsel’s order.

Treasurer Phil Deschaine acknowledged the action that was previously initiated by a citizen group that submitted a petition asking for an ordinance on the ballot to completely prohibit adult-use or recreational marijuana establishments within the boundaries of the Township.

The approval of the ballot language will allow registered voters in the Township to vote on the matter allowing the use of recreational marijuana in Meridian Township.
