Halloween Hours Declared 6:00 PM To 8:00 PM By Township Board

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Halloween is right around the corner and at the Meridian Township Board meeting on Oct. 5, Board members and Meridian Police Captain Rick Grillo talked about events and hours regarding the holiday.

"We are doing Halloween as we have pretty much every other year, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm is the plan for the 31st," Grillo said.

The Township said to make sure kids use glow sticks or flashlights to help drivers see them, children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult and children should wait to eat their candy until they arrive home.

For those who do not feel comfortable giving out candy, keep your porch lights off on Oct. 31.

The Meridian Township Police Department is planning on holding their annual open house on Oct. 30.

For the open house, Grillo said people can sign up for specific time slots and they are limiting groups to around 6 people and inside the building, masks are required. Visitors will also be health screened before entry.

The Township is also offering other Halloween-related events:

- Spooktakular Adventures at the Market on Oct. 20 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Marketplace on the Green. Dress in costume to win prizes, play pumpkin bowling and corn hole and vendors will be passing out candy.

- "Howl"oween at the Meridian Dog Parks on Oct. 26 at the Small Dog Park and 27 at the Large Dog Park from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm both days. Register for the event and dress up your dog in a costume. There will be a dog parade and games.

- Meridian Historical Village Treats & Tours on Oct. 30 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The buildings will be open for tours and goodies will be handed out at the General Store.

As far as wearing masks, they are not required outside according to the CDC.
