Meridian Conservation Corps: How to Get Involved

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Conservation Corps (MCC) shares many different ways to get involved during this time of the year, as well in the future. With eight total programs there is many different ways to get involved.

The Meridian Conservations Corps (MCC) is a volunteer program that helps connect volunteers with other volunteers as well as deepen the connection that many volunteers already have with the natural areas and to build those connections with those who haven’t taken part yet in the conservations. There is currently 8 programs and only 4 have been released. Land stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell said, “It’s really just a way for everyone to feel connected to each other and the land. To create a happier, healthier, sustainable community.”

Meridian Conservation Corps hopes to get right back into it as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Campbell said, “We feel that these stewardship Saturday’s we’ve been holding are good for peoples mental health and good way for people to get out in a safe way.”

Since September alone, the cleanup crew has already picked up 260 pounds of trash. Campbell said, “My main goal is to just nurture the connectivity in the community and really give people a sense of place and a sense of ownership in the parks and preserves. Just give people a sense of pride and ownership in their land.”

If you are interested in getting involved and helping Meridian Conservation Corps grow the volunteer program, you can go to the main age by typing Meridian Conservation Corp or contact Land Stewardship coordinator Emma Campbell at
