MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - After fifteen years at the S. 140 Times Square Drive location, Culver's of Okemos is looking to improve their brand standards. The applicant is requesting to amend existing special use permit to install the changing message sign issued in 2003.
The plan is to remove the existing changing sign from the front of the building and reconstruct the monument so that the changing message is smaller and has one static message for customers passing by.
Culver's wants to increase the visual appeal through LED lighting for the restaurant at all Culver's locations.
Planning Commissioners are concerned that the new sign will cause drivers to be distracted due to the changing message.
"A concern that I would have is that it not change during business hours, that could be distracting I think," said Commissioner David Premeoe.
After discussion, the special use permit to install the new changing message was approved.
