Okemos Library Celebrates Reading Month

Okemos Library Celebrates Reading Month

OKEMOS - The Okemos Library held story time this morning in honor of 'March is Reading Month.'

This month-long event celebrates the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

Every week, the library offers four different story times Monday through Thursday for kids ages three to eight.

"It reinforces early literacy practices," head librarian, Betsy Hull, said.

Every Monday and Wednesday, toddler story time is held at the library at 10:30 a.m.

Today, Pete the Cat was the star.

Mr. Tom read stories about Pete to the children and sang songs with them.

The kids also played with toys and participated in arts and crafts inspired by Pete.

Even though the library is celebrating reading month, they have events all year long to encourage reading.

"We reinforce early literacy every day of the week, every week of the month, every month of the year," Hull said.
