Motorcycle Accident on Park Drive

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Brandon Cohn has been riding motorcycles for 9 years and over 30,000 miles.

It was normal for Cohn to spend time out on the roads in Haslett, but this day Cohn was in for a surprise.
“I was just really upset because there was no warning at the intersection of Perry Road and Lake Drive,” states Cohn.

“It was a pretty hot day 90 degrees or so, and I was going to turn onto Perry Road to go to the gas station. I’m used to it being a dirt road from years ago so I thought I would slow down, but that day they must have laid down fresh chip seals”

Cohn believed the roads were in decent conditions and didn’t see a reason for repairs.

“I just felt like it was down put in a poor choice of conditions in an area frequented by motorcyclists,” says Cohn.

Cohn stated the chip seal caused his bike to lose traction and fall down.

He was not injured, but suffered minor scrapes on his arm and his bike.

“I was lucky that I wasn’t going very fast”, states Cohn

Bill Conklin, Manager of the Ingham County Road Department, says, "The ICRD’s sign department reports that the intersection of Lake Drive and Perry Road was fully signed with Loose Stone Orange warning signs.”

“There has been a big problem with theft of these signs, but additional signs have been placed in the area.”
