Meridian Township Hosts Red Cross Blood Drive

Meridian Township Hosts Red Cross Blood
Drive

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township recently hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive in the Town Hall Room.

Griffin Graham, Human Resources and Administration Intern with the Township, said they were expecting up to 50 donors, including walk-ins, and at least 25 people were scheduled.

Graham said the Township has hosted blood drives for the past five or six years, and because of scheduling conflicts, they decided to host one in the summer.

During the summer, Graham said they get a lower turn out than during the fall because a lot of people are in and out of the township on vacation. However, this drive was the most advertised in an effort to reach more donors.

"I think it shows the Township's involvement in the community and more than just local government. In the summer time, there's an urgent need for blood, so the blood collected at drives like this really does save lives," Graham said.

The Blood Drive was a success with 26 units of blood collected.
