MSU to Host Fourth Annual Science
Festival April 12

EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN - It's 12 days full of science, technology, engineering arts and mathematics.

Beginning April 12, Michigan State University and local businesses in Lansing will host various events for the fourth annual science festival at MSU. Events in the area will held for five days and continue in Detroit from April 18 until April 24.

Renee Leone, Coordinator and Co-Founder of the MSU Festival, said the idea for the festival was inspired by a similar one at Cambridge UK.

"It was about 2011 when I attended the Cambridge U.K. one and I kept thinking 'oh my goodness', MSU could do this," Leone said. "We have everything it takes--world-class researchers, and so I did some research, drew up a proposal, and then brought it to the Associate Provost of Outreach and Engagement."

A presenter at this year's festival, Peter Carrington, said he is looking forward to speaking with people about science.

"It's been a great honor for me to be taking this role and a great pleasure to talk to the folks who are interested in it," Carrington said.

This is Carrington's second year presenting in the festival and he currently has examples of his art work, titled "Science in Art", on display at Brody Hall on MSU's campus.
