Renovation Has Begun in Downtown Okemos

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Once a business that supported entrepreneurs in the Greater Lansing area, "The MARC" located off Okemos Road and Clinton Street is being turned into a much different venue.

Being that it is along a highly traveled road, Meridian Township officials hopes the new business will bring more people into Downtown Okemos.

“We sold the property at the end of last year. Kris Elliot from Evergreen Companies has big plans for the building. He is going to turn it into a Tavern and Tap restaurant,” said Meridian Township Associate Planner Peter Menser.

The building which is about 2,500 square feet will be turned into a 5,000 square foot venue with plans of a patio along Okemos Road, an outdoor dining area, utilization of the basement, and improvements to the parking lot.

The Township took the lead on this project by getting it rezoned in hopes of getting people excited about spending time in Downtown Okemos and believe this new venue is just what the area needs.

An open date has not yet been set, but stay tuned for that.
