Township Board Passes Welcoming Resolution

Township Board Passes Welcoming
Resolution

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Jan. 5, the Meridian Township Board passed a resolution to reinforce the welcoming nature of the community in Meridian Township.

Due to the recent national events regarding refugees and immigrants, the resolution states that the Township is open to all people and families, regardless of race, ethnicity, or place of origin.

The resolution states that the Township will continue to encourage people from all over to join the community, as it is beneficial to everyone when new faces join the area.

Treasurer Julie Brixie mentioned that the Welcoming Michigan organization is calling on all elected officials to make a pledge to uphold proper respect for Michigan's diverse communities. Brixie said that she has already signed the pledge in support.

The motion to pass this welcoming resolution was unanimous.
