Dan King Joins Meridian Township Police
Force

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Monday, December 14th the Meridian Township Police Department gained a new member to their force. Dan King was sworn in as the 38th member of the Meridian Township Police Department.

Police Chief David Hall conducted the ceremony, while Clerk Brett Dreyfus swore King in. Police Chief Hall preceded the ceremony by reciting the Code of Ethics and providing some brief history on King. Clerk Dreyfus then had the pleasure of placing his signature next to King’s, making his new employment official.

King graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He then went to begin his law enforcement career in Vinton, Virginia. During his three and a half years with the Vinton Police Department, he was promoted from a patrol officer to corporal. King was first introduced to the Meridian Township Police Department in 2010 as an intern, and now after a few years has decided to return full time.

“He must of saw something in our police department, that drew him in,” Police Chief Hall said. “I definitely think there is some truth in that.”

King was joined by his father Phil, brother Scott, sister-in-law Erin, niece Addison, nephew Matthew, and girlfriend Tara. Phil had the honor of placing the Meridian Township Police badge on his son. The ceremony concluded with staff and police officers from the Township welcoming King to the Meridian family.
