EAST LANSING - With Michigan State athletics experiencing remarkable success, the athletic department has announced another development: renovations to the Breslin Center.

“I think when it’s all done, it’s going to be met with a lot of positives,” said Michigan State Assistant Athletic Director Greg Ianni.

Many upgrades are being funded by the school that are aimed to create an overall better experience for those using the facility, while the athletic department is funding another project

“Athletics is building an addition to the Breslin Center, which is on the southeast corner which is where the Magic Johnson statue is, which will be a hall of history,” said Ianni.

The hall of history will also use technology to aid the display.

“We’re gonna try and incorporate a lot of technology in this," said Ianni. A lot of LED boards, so we can tailor the space to what’s going on.”

While the facility upgrades are funded by the school, donations to the athletic department are what is making the hall of history possible.

“The 20 million dollars that athletics is going to spend on our piece of the project will all be donor based dollars" said Ianni, who admits that the large amount of athletic donations have been made possible by recent results in both football and basketball.

“I think the success that Coach Dantonio and Coach Izzo have had with our programs has allowed us to do many of the things that we’ve done”

The project is expected to be completed around august of 2017.
