Unique Business Re-Opens In A Brand New
Location

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - From fashionable bandanas, to gourmet treats, to even homemade toys...everyone loves to buy their dog a gift. One business in particular makes it a point to showcase local dog products and they have re-opened their store in a brand new location.

"Kids n Dogs" is a unique business that is broken down into two distinct areas.

The dogs side of things is based off of small businesses and independent/local makers.

"We wanted to offer the highest quality product from small businesses to independents to support that local feel and that local economy," mentioned Kids N Dogs owner Melissa Allen.

On the flip side of their business is the kids side or "Mini Makers" side which features children products that encourage creativity, building, making, and entrepreneurship.

"Since the dog side is all about makers, we wanted to introduce kids to making showing them that here's an idea, here's a product that somebody had an idea or a concept for, and they wrote it down and followed it through and now its actually something that their selling," Allen stated.

"Kids N Dogs" was previously located inside the Meridian Mall in the Macy's wing.

Now this fun, eye-catching business has switched locations and is currently located in the Schuller's Books wing.

"We needed room to grow and expand, places that we could offer our classes and this space worked out great for us," Allen said with a large smile across her face.

The crowd gathered around as Melissa, her family and friends grabbed a hold of those large scissors to cut the bright, red ribbon welcoming "Kids N Dogs" into its brand new spot.

"We appreciate so much the local support so anybody that wants to share about us we would love, love, love to have you do that," Allen humbly mentioned.

"Kids N Dogs" is owned by Melissa Allen, her husband and father and they are hoping that this new location will bring their business more clientele.

"We are...I think in a better location and so we'll be able to accommodate more people in our store and because of the added space we're able to offer more products," Allen stated.

"Kids N Dogs" is currently working on expanding the classes they have to offer and down the road would love to turn "Mini Makers" into a franchise.
