An Inside Look at the Okemos Volleyball
Program

OKEMOS - The Okemos volleyball team is 3 and 0 in their conference and 17 and 7 for the season. Winning is important to their team, but what is it that brings them so much success? Balance within the program keeps the girls focused and striving for more.

"Tradition is something out program takes pride in, we have a long line of tradition, my mom has been coaching here for 16 years and me for 4, the tradition of building not only strong volleyball players but strong women is something we take pride in," said Allison Cironi, the Okemos Assistant Volleyball Coach.

Senior middle hitter Daria Richards says the balance between the coaches is what makes practices and playing for this team so great.

"Coach I and Coach Allison balance each other out, if one is getting on us about something then the other will calm things down, and this goes both ways for them, whoever shows up to practice, both or just one of them, we know it'll always be a good one," said Richards.

The Okemos volleyball team is striving for wins, but playing as a team and using their strong team chemistry is what is key to their success and happiness overall. Head Coach Jamie Ianni said that sometimes you get girls who like the sport, but don't like each other, but with this group, in her eyes, the chemistry on and off the court is the same.
