A New Program Could Be Implemented To
Establish Grand River Avenue

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Economic Development Corporation wants to bring a new program to Meridian Township. The program is called the Corridor Improvement Authority, also known as CIA.

The idea was brought to the Township Board at the Sept. 15 meeting. The program is specifically made to establish the corridor along Grand River Avenue.

"It could be new projects it could be policy, zoning, or adopting new laws or something in that area it could be social events. It really could be anything related to the corridor," said Associate Planner of Meridian Township Peter Menser.

There were mixed views on the program. Some felt that the CIA was not necessary and that the Township Board could handle the responsibility. Other members felt it was a great idea.

Ultimately the Board decided that they will have a public hearing at the October 6th meeting and discuss what they would like to see come out if the CIA if they were to approve of it in the future.
