Harris Nature Center Offers Summer Camps to Help Kids Better Connect with the Outdoors

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center is offering several different camps this summer to help children better connect with the outside world around them.

Camps start the week of June 15th and can range from one, two, or four days lasting anywhere from one to six hours long.

Toddlers all the way up to 8th graders can come and participate in crafts, hands-on activities, sing alongs, and trail walks. A list of the different options of camps can be found on the center's website.

"We call it the Nature Connection Summer Camp, because it's our goal to get kids out into nature and maybe help them make that connection that they've never made before," said Kit Rich, Harris Nature Center Coordinator.

Kids entering 8th grade and older are encouraged to apply to be a junior camp counselor. The application form can be found on the center's website.

The average cost is around $65. Enrollment is limited, so enroll online early and save $5 on on all-day camp. Scholarships are also available by contacting the Meridian Township Parks & Recreation Department.
