Lansing Derby Vixens VS. Sarnia Chin
Straps

LANSING - On Saturday night the Lansing Derby Vixens took on the Sarnia Chin Straps at home for their third game of the season. They now have a record of 1-2 after playing Saturday night. The Derby Vixens have three league teams. The Old Town Beat Down team played this past weekend which is the Derby Vixens C team. Their Charter team is actually ranked in the top 100 teams in the world.

The Junior Vixens, a 12 and under team, get to play during home games before the Derby Vixens take the rink. The Junior Vixens came out with a big win against the Junior Sarnia Chin Straps. They also sell plenty of merchandise during Junior Vixen games because fans like to show up early to get a good seat and watch future Lansing Derby Vixens play.

The goal of a roller derby game is to have you jammer, the person who circles the court, to break through as many packs as possible. The jammer breaking through is how your team scores points. How do you stop a jammer? By blocking them. The blockers wait in the pack and help their jammer get through while still trying to block the other teams jammer from scoring points as well. Although the Vixens fell short this Saturday, they travel to Ann Arbor next weekend for their first away game and they are read to get a W under their belt.
