MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Phillip Deschaine was born and raised in Okemos. Years later, he plannned to give back to the community that's given so much to him throughout the years.

With the departure of Teri Banas to County Commissioner, the Park Commission lost a devoted member. Deschaine, a three year veteran on the Zoning Board of Appeals, is now set to fill the very big shoes of Banas.

"We're going to be well served with her as County Commissioner. I saw her this morning, and she's involved with lots of important county issues, including what the county can do with the Parks & Trail Millage. I'll continue to consult with her because she's just a wealth of information," said Deschaine.

Deschaine says he already has plans for the Commission, including more frequent Township-wide recycling days.
