• The Meridian Township Fire Department on the scene of a fire at Teakwood Circle in Haslett.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Fire Department responded to what they believed to be a structure fire at 1183 Teakwood Court in Haslett Thursday afternoon.

After arriving on scene, firefighters discovered a Ford Escape inside the owners garage and a contained fire within the interior of the vehicle.

The crew worked quickly to put the fire out, and pulled the vehicle way from the garage to prevent any damage being done to the house.

"We've checked the structure for any fire extension; we haven't found any. A little bit of light smoke but not in the house, that's what we're clearing out at this time," Chief of Training and EMS Operations Bill Priese said.

The cause of the fire is to be determined after Fire Inspector Tavis Millerov investigates the vehicle.
