Bill Requires Local Government to
Purchase U.S. Made Flags

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Flying "Old Glory" has become more serious Governor Rick Snyder signed Senate Bill 428 which will restrict local governments from purchasing American Flags manufactured from vendors outside the United States.

Meridian Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus stated "...if a township does not find an America-made flag that is of the right price and or comparable quality then they have to post the (township) website that they purchased a foreign-made flag..."

State law also requires that any deceased military may have a flag with a holder put on their grave if a veteran's organization or five voters request it.
