Planning Commission Presented with
New Items At Meeting on January 27

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Planning Commission was presented with some new items at their meeting on January 27.

Thomas Deits, Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission discusses the Hamptons of Meridian's requests to revise space allocation commercial and office uses.

"This is about whether there should be more of less commercial verses office in this mixed use development, what's the right proportion," said Deits. "Frankly I think in that particular location we should let the market decide. We are going to try and be as flexible as we can within the ordinance now and we spoke about some ways going forward where we could give them more flexibility to respond as appropriate the economic conditions in that area."

The commission was also presented with a request for an addition on a building for senior foster care. The commission has notified the neighboring residents and they may appear at the next planning commission to voice their opinion on the expansion.

The Planning Commission is expected to take action on both items at their next meeting on February 10.
