MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Many projects both big and small, are being implemented for the year 2014. Both residential and commercial developments will be accommodated for and are expected to drawn in a larger crowd.

From roadways to retail, there is a lot of new improvements to infrastructure within the Township. The Van Atta Bridge construction is scheduled to begin in mid-February, with plans to remove the existing bridge and replace it with a brand new one. Two lanes and a widened sidewalk on the west side of the bridge are also being constructed.

A brush removal project has also been planned, with the intent to get rid of brush that has been left on the side of the roads. There has not been a set schedule for this however, due to the heavy amounts of snow.

A request for a 12-year proposed park millage has been made in order to fund existing projects that have been previously planned. Some of these projects include a loop trail to be put into Wonch Park, an athletic complex for Applegate Golf Center, and maintenance plans for the central portion of Nancy Moore Park.

Meridian Mall is expanding to house an H&M retail store and is currently in the process of approving a permit to add an existing space for another major tenant. Some other major projects include a new dentist office to be located on Hagadorn Road, Trilogy Health Service assisted living complex, and an Aldi grocery store.
