MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Saturday, September 21st was full of fun, games and heritage at Meridian's Historical Village.

Wood carvers and blacksmiths, old-fashioned baseball games and even a petting zoo with llamas made up Meridian Township's 15th annual Heritage Festival. However, behind all the fun activities and entertaining performances lay a deeper meaning to the event.

"And we do want people to understand that we all have a rich heritage," said Jane Rose, Meridian Historical Village Executive Director. "More and more groups move in to this community every year, and the richness of that quilt just continues to grow. And so it's important to understand what came before us to understand and put in perspective where we are today."

Rose also said she hopes for continued growth in the Heritage Festival, wanting to involve every ethnicity that make up the Township's diverse quilt.
