Okemos Election Proposal for November

Okemos Election Proposal for
November

OKEMOS - A new item will be on the ballot this upcoming November. At the June 10th Okemos School Board meeting, the board unanimously voted to adopt a resolution calling for a special school election on Tuesday, November 5th of this year to approve a tax bond proposal. The bond proposal would be worth no more than 7.5 million dollars. If approved the money would go towards various parts of the school district including new buses and close to a million dollars in building security

"It's not a bond to far exceed the needs in the classroom," said Bob Clark, Director of Finance for Okemos School District. "It's designed to help us keep pace and stay competitive"

Another goal of the bond is to improve technology in all of the schools. This would entail giving all students access to a personal tablet device, to be used for educational purposes. Teachers would then be trained to use these tablets to enhance the classroom experience.
