Co-Ed Softball Hits Meridian Township!

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With Summer officially back, co-ed softball is underway at Nancy Moore Park in Meridian Township.

Mason resident Mike Sheridan says he's been playing softball for a couple of years and has had a blast.

"It's a lot of fun, being around guys, and especially for those of us who, you know, played high school sports, and want something to do, and be athletic, and still be competitive, and that sort of a thing," Sheridan said. "It's a great outlet for that."

"While a lot of the teams that compete in these co-ed softball league games like to go the bar afterwards, win or lose, don't take that to mean these games aren't competitive. As Mike says, it can get kind of heated out there."

You know, sports get tight, things get heated, calls get made, and you know, whenever you get a group of 25 guys together that are playing sports, it's always gonna be competitive."

Umpires can often be a factor in rising tensions, but Sheridan says they do a good job... for the most part.

"The umps, they really a good job," Sheridan said. "They do as good as they can. There's only one ump that calls every game, as opposed to when you watch major league baseball, and they have four, and they miss calls. So, we understand that, it doesn't mean we don't get upset with them sometimes, but no, they do a good job."
