Okemos Schools Restructuring

Okemos Schools Restructuring

UPDATE: OKEMOS - The Okemos Schools recently went through a restructuring period starting in the 2010-2011 school year. According to Dr. Catherine Ash, the Okemos Public School's Superintendent, it was primarily because of finances.
Given the circumstances the Okemos Public School Board took into account public remarks, letters, and comments from parents before making their final decision. When coming to a conclusion, the board found it most beneficial to change the Elementary school to grades K-4, Kinawa to 5-6, and Chippewa to 7-8. There were no changes made to the High School.
The board strongly believes that although this is a major change, the education of the children will not be effected negatively in any way.
