Urban Services Boundary

Urban Services Boundary

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board is trying to figure out whether or not they want to create a boundary or management area that would show where the Board could provide public utilities like water and sanitary sewer services. Those outside the boundary would have to be served through a septic system or private well. The big question is whether or not the soil in the areas outside the boundary is in the right condition to be served privately.

“Draw a line on a map saying we know we have public utilities - water and sanitary sewer - to be able serve this area of the township but once you go across this line, we don't know if we'll be able to serve you with public utilities,” said Mark Kieselbach, Director of the Department of Community Planning and Development.

The Planning Commission submitted a map with an ideal boundary back in November. It runs North to South, from Lake Lansing to Jolly Road, but the Township revised it to include Wellington and Winslow Mobile Home Park. Both are located on Grand River. For now, people in the areas that are going to be served will be on notice.
