Haslett Boys Fall To DeWitt In Overtime Thriller

Haslett Boys Fall To DeWitt In
Overtime Thriller

UPDATE: HASLETT - The Haslett boys have been looking lackluster all year. But when they faced DeWitt, they showed glimpses of what their future could hold in store.

With some help of the freshman and sophomore talent on Haslett, they took DeWitt into overtime.

Dewitt would have the lead 72-70 with just over a minute left in overtime, but would foul Haslett's Patrick Harney. He'd knock in the two free throws to tie it up.

The final minute resulted in a free throw dual between the two teams.

The game appeared to be going into a second overtime after Viking Marc Varlesi hit the tying shot with just 7 seconds left to go in the game, but Haslett's defense would let DeWitt drive down-court quickly, and draw a foul to give them two free throws with just 3 seconds left in the game.

DeWitt's Josh Borta would make the first free throw and miss the second one intentionally. Haslett couldn't come up with the rebound as time wound down.

Haslett drops this one at home 76-75.
