Stalking Awareness Month

Stalking Awareness Month

UPDATE: LANSING - On Michigan State's campus there are many groups that address awareness of this issue along with others concerning relationship violence and sexual assault.

"It's important to be educated about all these pieces, so relationship violence, stalking, sexual violence, because all of those intersect sometimes in some situations." said Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention (SACI) president, Leah Short.

But the awareness doesn't stop at the end of January. next month some activists will be joining together in the Vagina Monologues as an act to end violence against girls and women.

"So by having events such as the Vagina Monologues, it sparks an awareness and interest for people to get educated on these issues and to hopefully be able to identify red flags." said Short.

Jazmen Moore, Co-director of the Vagina Monologues said, "The show is about women, an it's about women's experiences, but those experiences need to be shared with all gender and sexual backgrounds because they affect all of us."

These monologues give women a voice to fight against sexual violence and encourage the audience to get involved in the battle.

And with both National Stalking Awareness Month and the Vagina Monologues, everyone has a role in recognizing and ending these violent acts in our communities.
