Meridian Holds Annual Recycling Event

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Service Center and Nancy Moore Park hosted several hundred volunteers and residents last month during Meridian Township's fall recycling event.

Area residents were able to safely recycle a variety of unwanted items including home electronics, computers and old televisions.

Even items like scrap metals, old appliances, glass containers and unwanted bicycles were also accepted. And residents were also offered a chance to bring in their old documents to have them safely and securely shredded.

Meridian Township's Recycling and Energy Coordinator Leroy Harvey said the event wouldn't have been possible without the hundreds of volunteers and dozens of businesses who gave their time.

This year more than 1,000 cars drove through the event dropping off nearly 4,000 pounds of glass, more than 50,000 pounds of electronics and nearly 100 bicycles, among many other items.

The spring event is scheduled for April 27th. For more information visit recycle.meridian.mi.us.
