Residents Attend Coffee Hour with
Rep. Meadows

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township residents enjoyed some coffee and conversation last Friday morning with one of their local representatives.

State Representative Mark Meadows (D), 69th District, held his annual coffee hour at Blondie's Barn in Haslett, giving residents the chance to come out and chat about the issues most concerning them.

Meadows, who will be stepping aside after this term because he is term limited, holds the coffee hours regularily around the area to engage with his constituents who can't necessarily come downtown to his office to voice their concerns.

Susan Schmidt (D), who is running for Meadows' seat this November, was also in attendance.

"I like the coffee's because they're early in the morning, and of course I've got a whole day of meetings and stuff ahead of me," Meadows said.

"But, usually people can stop in on their way to work, or whatever, and if they've got something they want to talk to me about, I'm here to talk."

Meadows also said the attendance at the coffee hours is usually moderate, but he notices more people making the effort to come out when larger issues start to become more prevalent.
