Meridian Township Fire Department Participates in Car Cutting Competition

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Fire Department competed against the East Lansing Fire Department in the Annual DeWalt Great Divide Car Cutting Contest on Friday, November 15th at Home Depot. The race was to see who was the fastest to cut a car in half using DeWalt tools.

For the second year in a row, the East Lansing Fire Department beat the Township's Fire Department in a head-to-head race. This year, the winning time was 1 minute 57 seconds. Meridian Township's time was 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

The Great Divide Car Cutting Contest began as a way to honor the Michigan State University vs. University of Michigan football game. This year's event included the Williamston High School Marching Band, refreshments and local vendors.
