New Businesses Call Meridian Township Home

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian will be welcoming a few new businesses to the Township. Developers all around have been working the past few months to open their doors for the first time. Some businesses like X-Golf Lansing, opened their doors two weeks ago.

"X-Golf Lansing is a golf-entertainment venue for people of all ages, golf games of all stages, a place you can come play a round of 18 at famous courses from around the world, have a drink, get a snack and hang out," said Nick Swanson, co-owner of X-Golf Lansing.

Swanson said they broke ground on the business in December of 2018 after his wife and him decided they wanted to open a golf-simulation business of their own in Meridian Township.

X-Golf Lansing is located right across the street from the Meridian Mall and adjacent to FedEx. Swanson said this location has helped his business.

"I think it's going to be great, and we've already seen it," Swanson said. "Unfortunately for our friends at FedEx, they hear the balls banging up against the screen all day, guys hitting drivers and, you know, a thunderous boom here and there, but it has brought in customers."

X-Golf Lansing has some leagues in progress already, and also provides free golf clubs to customers of all ages.

Looking at the other businesses as a whole, Meridian Township Economic Development Director Chris Buck said a lot of buildings are being reused for new business.

"There's a lot of single retailers that are re-purposing old buildings or knocking down old buildings and building new ones, so I've got a list of things that are coming along here quickly," Buck said.

In regards to the BD Mongolian Barbecue located across from Meijer on Grand River Avenue, there are plans for a new restaurant according to Buck.

"The Panera Brand is going to go on that footprint. Panera around the country, if you've traveled around you may see a different looking Panera than the one we have here in Meridian Township. Right now, our Panera is very, very popular footprint, you know, inside an existing strip mall and there new design is to be in a free-standing building that has a drive through and an outdoor seating component, so they've purchased the property where the BD Mongolian property used to be," Buck said.

A few other businesses that will be opening soon in Meridian Township include the Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, PC located in the Central Park Plaza at 5100 Marsh Road, Launch Trampoline Park in Meridian Mall and J-Dubb Signature Subs, which will be located at 2160 W. Grand River.
