EAST LANSING - Senior night was extra sweet as the East Lansing's Lady Trojans pulled off a win against the Haslett Vikings
98 - 85 .
Trojan's Seniors : Stephanie Lingo, Zorah Mondol, Catherine Schertzing, and Madi Zink were honored in their last home meet as a Senior.
East Lansing's Coach Ron Marsh said, "This win means a lot; it's our first league win in two years which is huge for our program."
"It was a team effort; the whole team did great. We have been teaching them about their energy systems and how to get up and get going a little bit faster," Coach Marsh added.
And the Lady Trojans indeed swam fast tonight.
The big shocker of the evening was East Lansing's 200 yard freestyle B relay team (Jill Kammerer, Zorah Mondol, Katelyn Meeker, and Mallory Haynie) surprised Haslett's A team with a time of 2:01.17.
This led to a 10 point swing for the Trojans.
East Lansing's Diving Coach, Tom Kuhlman mentioned, "Diving was definitely a high point of the meet, and was a big bonus for us tonight."
Mary Phillips won the diving event for the Trojans and many of their rookies came through big with a 9 point contribution.
East Lansing Seniors had the last say with a few tears in their emotional last swim.
Coach Kuhlman stressed, "It was great to go out with a win; the girls have been waiting a long time for this."
Haslett's Coach, Damon Robertson thought "the meet was close and after diving believed his team had a good chance to win."
However, East Lansing definitely swam better the 2nd half and put that notion to rest.
Even though the Haslett lost by 13, Megan Fulton and Anuva Suresh stepped up big for the Vikings.
