MASON - After several postponements, the Haslett baseball and softball teams were finally able to take the field last week.
Both teams played doubleheaders against Mason High School to kickoff their seasons.
The softball team was defeated by the Bulldogs in both games, 5-3 and 8-2.
As for the baseball team, they split their games, losing the first 12-2, while winning the second 8-4.
Big things are expected for the Vikings baseball team this season, after winning a regional title last year.
Darin Ferguson, the Athletic Director at Haslett High School, says the team is talented enough to win a state title.
"I think they think that they have enough talent and pitching, pitching is a big thing in high school, and we probably, as I was talking to the coach last week in Okemos, have 7 or 8 guys that can throw, and when you have that many in high school, that's a good thing to have," said Ferguson.
The Baseball team continued their winning ways this weekend, beating Okemos in both games.
