The State of Michigan has mandated that schools must provide all day Kindergarten, which adds $600,000 in costs, according to Clark.
If the board of education approves it, half of the deficit will be covered by part of the Okemos Public Schools existing fund balance.
Many Michigan schools are facing these sort of funding problems in recent years, Clark said.
