MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - An additional 18,000 square feet will be added to the mall to make room for new clothing retailer, Gordman's. This expansion will be made in between JCPenney and Younkers.

The mall is also expecting a 24 hour gym known as Planet Fitness.

No additional space will be added for this business, however, there will be an external access constructed at the front entrance of the gym.

The gym will be available 24 hours; even when the rest of the mall is closed.

"There are a couple good uses, there's a Dick's Sports there so I think there's going to be some good play off between the people who go to the fitness places. There's also places where you can get food so they can do more than one activity while they're at the mall," said Peter Menser, Associate Planner for Meridian Township.

Planet Fitness is expected to open around the New Year while Gordman's is yet to sign the lease so their opening date has not been determined.

"It’s really different that we’re still continuing to grow,” Menser added. “And it’s great that people want to utilize that property."

Further planning for Gordman's will begin next month.
