UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On February 21st, the Township Board discussed the gas station permits.
Currently, if a gas station has a changing sign it requires a special use permit. The new amendment would allow the fuel price to be shown and changed without needing this permit. The Planning Commission is undergoing the amendment to help alleviate the extra burden on business owners.
Mark Kieselbach, Director of Community Planning and Development said,"Well it's going to benefit the business because they don't have to go through this process and wait this time to get this special use permit. And one thing it does us, it saves us time because everytime it comes in front of the Planning Commission or Township Board you have to have somebody prepare the material, you have to have staff time. So in the long run it saves everybody."
This amendment is not set in stone until voted on. The voting should take place March 6th and should be official the first week of April.
