EAST LANSING - On Tuesday, February 13th, an emergency meeting was held by Michigan State University’s Faculty Senate where they came together to vote yes or no for ‘No Confidence’ in regards to MSU’s Board of Trustees.

The meeting was in wake of recent events involving former MSU and USA Gymnastics Doctor, Larry Nassar and how MSU handled the sexual abuse allegations which Nassar has been charged for. Sixty-five faculty members joined together in MSU’s International Center to come to a decision.

Student and Faculty members were able to express concerns and opinions prior to the vote. Faculty members have no direct power over influencing Trustee members to resign, but with the vote in place it is highly encouraged.

61 faculty members voted no confidence while 4 voted confidence in trustee members equalling 94% voting no confidence and the 6% voting confidence.

This vote serves as protest against MSU's newly appointed Interim President John Engler, former Governor for the State of Michigan from 1991-2003. Engler replaced former MSU President, Lou Anna K. Simon in late January of this year after her resignation revolving around the Nassar Scandal.
