Ingham County Commissioner Teri Banas Announces Her Candidacy

HASLETT - Long time Haslett resident, former Township Park Commissioner and current County Commissioner Teri Banas officially announced her candidacy for 69th District State Representative.

"Improving the lives of others has always been at the heart of what I do," said Banas, serving her second term as County Commissioner for northern Meridian Township. "And as a progressive Democrat, it's what I plan to do with passionate commitment in the state Legislature."

According to her press release, "Banas has long worked professionally as an advocate for early childhood education, pursuing issues at the state and federal level. She is a founder of the Haslett Beautification Association, served 10 years as parks commissioner and as county commissioner who lead the parks and trails task force for Ingham County that is reshaping recreation in Ingham County. But she cautions that her candidacy is not just about what she's done in the past but her vision for the future, both for the district and for the state of Michigan."

The 69th House District includes the City of East Lansing, Meridian, Williamstown and Locke Townships, being represented by House Democratic Leader Sam Singh. Singh's term ends December 2018, in which he can no longer seek re-election because of term limits.
