Kingston Kitchen Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

OKEMOS - Kingston Kitchen might have opened October 5th but today marked their official ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Meridian Area Business Association (MABA).

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, Township officials, members of MABA and customers were all present to see the big scissors take a cut into the red ribbon.

Executive Chef Shawn Fearon has brought his culinary traditions 1,700 miles away right to Meridian Township's doorstep. He brings Caribbean twists using American cuisines.

Chef Shawn has been waiting 20 years to live out his dream and now he finally has.

"It's bittersweet, you're living your dream but with your dream comes personal expectation of how you'd actually like to deliver your dream." says Chef Shawn.

According to Chef Shawn it's not just about the cuisine but the atmosphere he says he's a chef that loves to laugh and talk.

Chef Shawn worked closely with Meridian Township and the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce to carry out his plan, "I feel very satisfied, I am wowed that the community is this involved."

Kingston Kitchen located at 4749 Central Park Drive in Okemos serving true Jamaican cuisine.
