MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township has been working to find a way to reduce sidewalk hazards since 1999. The sidewalk replacement program of 2017 would help to enhance their mission to do just that.

With 10 subdivisions containing sidewalks being categorized as causing hazards, the proposal to repair the sidewalks was presented to the Township in hopes that the designated sidewalks will be replaced by order of the Township Board.

Subdivisions that will be effected by this proposal include Briarwood, Cornell Woods, Cornell Woods North, Cornell Woods South, Country Place, Crestwood, Heritage Hills, Whispering Oaks, Whitehills Lakes, Whitehills Woods, Wilkshire, Woodridge, Wood Valley, and 4507 Cornell.

It is the responsibility of the property owner to repair the hazardous sidewalks. Once the property owner has been notified of the repair, they will have 20 days to do so. If the repair is not done in the allotted time given, the Township will take it upon itself to repair the sidewalk at the property owners expense.

Last nights Township Board Meeting agreed that the proposal should be accepted but will be discussed at the next board meeting which is set for Tuesday, June 20th at 6:00 p.m.

The public hearing will take place on Tuesday, July 18th at 6:00 p.m., where the proposed improvement will be discussed. All those in favor of the project will be given the chance to speak, as well as owners who may be against the project which can take place at the hearing.
