Flu Season Still in Full Swing

Flu Season Still in Full Swing

LANSING - Flu is a very contagious respiratory disease caused by influenza viruses that can cause mild to severe illness. However, local pharmacies around Meridian Township agree that the flu vaccine is the number one way to prevent the flu. Some of the local pharmacy employees gave a brief account of the fact that, even though the number of people receiving flu shots has increased, the percentage is still pretty low.

“The flu season is unpredictable, and we should not underestimate the impact the virus can have on our health,” says Dr. Eden Wells, chief medical executive with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

Local pharmacies in Meridian Township encourage residents to always prepare for the flu season in ways most beneficial to the individual. If the flu shot is something you are not interested in, you are not left fighting influenza alone. CVS Pharmacy encourages residents to stop in and ask questions about alternatives and other forms of flu season protection.

What's New This Flu Season:
1. injectable flu vaccines (flu shots) only
2. vaccines updated to match active viruses
3. new vaccines
4. changes to egg allergy vaccines

Residents in Meridian Township and surrounding areas can visit many local businesses to receive their influenza vaccine. The following is a list of flu shot locations throughout the township:

Rite Aid
CVS Pharmacy
