Emergency 911 Millage Renewal

INGHAM COUNTY - According to Lance A. Langdon, Director of the Ingham County 911 Central Dispatch, "the millage is a proposed renewal of the 8.5% millage that voters had approved previously back in 1996, 2000, 2008, and 2012."
A 911 dispatcher works closely with police and emergency medical teams to provide quick responses to emergencies and this Emergency 911 Millage Renewal will be used to upgrade and expand those services.

Langdon explains that "the millage is for the operational costs for running the 911 center [where he works], paying for the staff that are here, answering the phones, and dispatching the officers and firefighters to respond to the emergencies around the county."

In the event that the millage is approved, it will be in place for another 4 years and could raise an estimated $5, 803, 020 for the countywide 911 Emergency Telephone and Dispatch System in the first calendar year.

The original rate of the millage is 0.85 while the 2016 rate was slightly lower at 0.8431.

The Emergency 911 Millage will be included in the 2016 Primary Election on August 2, 2016.
